πŸ“° Story of the Day

How Fast Is Light?

Flip on a light switch. The room gets bright right away. It seems like magic. But light is really moving. It just moves super fast!

Light is the fastest thing in the whole universe. Nothing can beat it. Not a race car. Not a jet. Not even a rocket!

How fast is light? It could zip around the whole Earth seven times in one second. That's faster than you can blink!

Our sunlight comes from the Sun. The distance from the Sun to Earth is huge. A car would need over one hundred years to drive there. But light makes the trip in about eight minutes.

That means something funny. The sunlight you see right now left the Sun eight minutes ago! Never look right at the Sun, though. It can hurt your eyes.

So next time you flip a switch, think about it. That light is on a super fast trip to your eyes!
